Sunso(Ship
building place) -
National historic site No. 392
Since
the Japanese invaded Korea in
1592, the famous turtle
Ship had been built and reparired
there. In
1591, Admiral Yi Sun Shin
decided to build turtle Ship
when he arrived at the ship
building area in Sunso village
after surveying many other place;
namely, Jongpo, Dolsan and Ssangbong
village itself was a natural
fortress.

Admiral
Yi completed the construction
of the turtle Ship with the
aids of millitary officer, Na
Dae Yong, who was highly skillful
in ship building. The
turtle Ship was ready for a
test cruise off at Sijeondong
on March 27, 1592, the next
year. |
Sunso village
was a suitable place for watching
enemy and hiding our fleet.
There are many
other relices such as KulGang(anchoraged
site for turtle Ship), Segeomjong
(tower for washing sword), Gyesunchu(a
Stone post to tie up ship) and
Beoksu (a stone statue of a
guardian man).
Sunso was designated
as National Historic Site No.
392 on April 20. 1995.
